While that is certainly true I suspect there are two more probable reasons..

A genuine feeling that PMs shouldn't get caught lying. (Note I don't say shouldn't lie because they all do).
I don't know why anyone is surprised that Boris has told porkies, all the MP's lie to us that's what they do. They get into Parliament and do the exact opposite of what they said they would do so they win elections on lies.
No no the crime the MPs are judging him on isn't telling porkies which as you so rightly point out is a politicians stock in trade. The thing that is losing him their confidence is being caught telling porkies.
so perhaps the letter writers should also be asked to name a replacement, remember this is the party that stabbed 'blessed Margaret ' in the back

Meanwhile Durham's finest are still pondering whether or not to issue a ticket to Starmer who has promised to stand down should he get one.
It is Starmer that keeps Boris/Conservatives in.. So I hope he doesn't get a ticket..
Ah but there are plenty in the Labour party can take on that role perfectly well. Of course Rayner is up for one too but I don't think dearest Dianne is - maybe she could be leader.
