Title: The long Walk.
Post by: Scrumpy on September 20, 2022, 11:04:26 AM

I watched the funeral yesterday.. Walking at a slow pace the procession took 45 minutes to travel along the walk up to Windsor Castle ...
Had they started at the beginning of the walk it would have taken 2 hours..
 That is some walk..!!

It was fantastic, all of it.

It certainly was.. The pipers suddenly appearing was an 'Hooray' moment ... The lone piper at the end was haunting..
The pall bearers didn't put a step wrong, even when climbing the steps..
Very sad for the family..
The hymns that were played were not familiar to me..

I always have my heart in my mouth when the pallbearers have to surmount stairs - and if it worries me, what must it do to those actually involved?

The Lords my Shepherd, sung to Crimond, was a favourite when I went to church as a child, Presbyterian, Church of Scotland. I also know The Day Thou Gavest, but none of the others.

The piper at the end was the perfect finish for me.
