Title: 28 languages
Post by: Flying Bomb on April 08, 2022, 12:26:24 PM
Just received a NHS letter about getting the Spring booster.
How to get it is in 28 languages !
What sort of a population has UK become. :-(

English is still at the top of the list, so we must be thankful for small mercies I suppose.

Multicultural and inclusive  :yahoo:

It might not be the popular way of thinking but I'm happy to live in a society that's multicultural and inclusive rather than exclusive by any measure including a certain amount of immigration both legal and 'illegal'.  (Michael takes cover..)

To my mind "multicultural" = "ghettos". Why are areas of our cities occupied almost exclusively by single ethnic  groups? Integration appears to have never been given a try.

I think we are the only idiots who issue leaflets in different languages, other countries expect you to have a translator if you need one at your own expense, that's how it should be,  what a waste of our money.

I can't see any other reason Alex, if it's not for the direct Social Security benefits its for free schooling. NHS etc. and the fact they can live their old lives in the UK among their own, and if anyone moans they shout racist and run for the equality laws. They even have their own TV channel the BBC and all the adverts are aimed at them with the black actors.

Perhaps some stick together because of the 'welcome' they got when they came?  I'm like zoony, I'm afraid, I'm happy with a bit of a mix.  Perhaps because working in a city, I had colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.  I didn't like them all, but their ethnicity wasn't the deciding factor.   Just lumping everyone who is or is descended from immigrants as 'they' or 'them' is like suggesting everyone from the UK is the same, when patently we're not.

There are huge differences in immigrants, those who come via the points system on work permits pay their way, as do university students.  They are here for a limited time, they are not eligible to claim benefits, and they pay a health surcharge with their visas.  They have to prove they can support themselves before they are allowed in.  If you don't believe me, there's plenty of info on the Home Office website.

Those immigrants are vastly different to the chancers who are crossing the channel;  to the people who prefer to live in ghettoised areas and don't attempt to integrate, but marry those from their home villages; and some of the EU immigrants, who have brought their unacceptable behaviour with them.  At least that last route has now been closed!

The Home Office need to get their act together, IMO, and get rid of those who are here illegally, as quickly as possible. There are reckoned to be around a million. Anyone for biometric ID cards?

what would they actually achieve? OK, so the police stop someone without that ID - then what? As things stand nothing will happen

"If you don't believe me, there's plenty of info on the Home Office website."

There's plenty of info on the DVLA website about driving licences, MOTs & insurance but that doesn't stop 10s of thousands who drive without any.

And the advice on the Home Office website doesn't stop those with false documents from fake colleges getting into the UK.
