Title: Dr. Who
Post by: Michael Rolls on May 08, 2022, 02:19:17 PM
So having ticked the woke box with a female DH, a second tick for a black man so obvious a surrender to PC - another one I won't watch - and I really used to enjoy most of the reincarnations

I liked John Pertwee and Jo.
Tom Baker and Sarah Jane.
David Tennant and Rose.

Wasn't too fussed about the others.

John Pertwee was, and remains, my favourite, followed by David Tennant and Peter Capaldi, then Patrick Troughton. With the exception of Sylvester McCoy - couldn't stand him, so only watched one or two episodes, the rest all more or less level pegging

Maybe they just picked the best actor for the job? It happens you know! He's a young, vibrant, quirky, funny guy and a great actor from what I've seen - the colour of his skin is irrelevant to me.

"My" Doctor in my youth was Tom Baker - but I'm also a fan of most of the new stuff. Chris Eccleston had a hell of a task bringing it back to TV after so long. And he nailed it.

Maybe they did but the woke plot lines of the previous series suggest otherwise to me.

With no TV licence I won't be watching it anyway. I think my favourite doctor was probably David Tennant.

Different showrunner - different show. RTD ran Dr Who from 2005-2010 including stuff for David Tennant. What did you think?

Must be at cross purposes here because I don't understand what you are saying.

I was not impressed with the overly woke casting and plot lines of the previous series.

A woman, a black, an Asian and an old white bloke mourning his black wife.... right.... Back in time to stop some event (I forget what) that lead to the death of a black civil rights woman (may not have that exactly right) is quite a stretch from fighting Daleks and Cybermen.

As I said I won't be watching anyway as I ditched my TV licence.

My choices too, fond the latest offering complete garbage and quit after ten minutes. Because it's the BBC, I will not be viewing, or listening  to anything now out of principal and that includes the supposedly 'bigged up' World Service.

In the latest ghastly offering of Dr Who, the dastardly woman who played the 'Doctor' came over as a cross between Scarlet Mcquire and Jess Phillips! Imagine her telling you off for not obeying Lockdown, or supporting Citizen Khan in his wilful destruction of London.

HG Wells got it exactly right with the Alien 'Red Weed, but fortunately for him he never had to experience it being applied by Khan and his squids ...

What i'm saying is that the next series with the new Doctor is being run by Russel T Davis who gave us those great David Tennant  days. I agree that the last lot with Chris Chibnall in charge were pretty poor.

Ah thanks for clarifying. I'm no aficionado of Doctor Who and had no idea who the production teams were. I wonder if the new doctor will be kickin' some ass or it that will still be off the menu.

One thing's for sure.  No Dalek will ever be allowed to say to a black Dr. Who, "Exterminate. Exterminate."

I have had little interest in Dr Who since Hartnell appeared , and the woke version will not change that.

So, a black gay actor to play Dr. Who?  BBC ticked two boxes in one go !

Walloping cod is animal cruelty.
I trust that you, being a gentleman, do not do this.

I watched Dr Who with my kids, never really bothered once they'd grown up.  I suppose given that its target is a youngish audience, the casting will be very different to its early days.

I did like Jon Pertwee though, as the Doctor and Wurzel Gummidge.
