All the papers reckon Hunt will go for another NI reduction meaning most pensioners will get SFA.

Well I'll be annoyed but he won't be losing my vote. The useless sods did that quite a while back.
Mind you he wouldn't regain it whatever he did.

May they all suffer painful bleeding haemorrhoids.

It was on the cards all along.. They had no intentions of helping the pensioners..

They know they have lost the grey vote.... This confirms it..
And they know they will lose the election... big time..

If I remember rightly even Starmer will not implement the triple lock..
So... I care not who runs the country.. they are all the same..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Not that they ever bother hypothecating taxes, but I thought NI was supposed to pay for NHS, health care, armed forces etc, all of which require more funding and not less.  Lowering the NI gives a message of what the priorities are.

An excellent point. Either they are devaluing the NHS or they have to admit that the basic tax rate is close to 30% than 20% plus the employer pays another 10%+  which could otherwise have been yours.

I've not watched the budget so what was said about the Triple Lock?

Nothing..
I just thought I would mention it..
I hear/read that triple lock will not happen..
I read that Starmer is not too keen on it either..

So that means that it was all empty promises by them..
So sure that would mean loss of the grey vote.. !!

I am not very clever when it comes to politics..
If I am wrong.. could someone please explain it to me..Please.

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I've recorded the STV News at Six so still to find out about the budget news yet.

Alex

What about his opening statement and one million pounds allocation  ?????

I imagine that the next decision on the triple lock will be up to the new government. There is usually an indication in the autumn statement I think but we've already had our notices for April 2024-5 and had the 8.5% inflation increase.

Traditionally the Tories get the grey vote just as Labour get the muslim vote.

Here again are the main points of the news.
Income tax, no change.
Fuel tax, no change.
Alcohol and cigarettes (including e-cigarettes) tax increase.
VAT, no change (even though we left the eu four years ago).
State pensions as reported above, no significant change.

So basically, no change then.

Oh there will certainly be a change coming. That starey eyed hunt will be looking for a job for starters.

Mine came about a week ago. I haven't had to use it yet as I only recently bought a 24 pack (it saves 2p a roll and adds to the house insulation plus they'll be costing twice as much next time I buy.)
