Title: Anybody else get this problem?
Post by: klondike on January 11, 2022, 06:07:13 PM
Zoony gets periods he gets a message just about every time he posts both here and on  PF saying he has already submitted that post.
The discussion of this starts here -https://letschat.club/index.php/topic,291.msg5210.html#msg5210 (https://letschat.club/index.php/topic,291.msg5210.html#msg5210)
zoony has made a clarification so best read that through before voting.

You get 2 votes, use 1 for PF and the other for here. If you make a mistake or the question  gets amended you can remove and correct your answers.

Please reply in the poll but no need to comment if you don't see this or only very rarely but please leave a note if you do giving..

Just voted "never here" - I don't post on PF now and have deleted the bookmark.

I have voted 'never' both on here and PF. I do sometimes get it on PF but it is invariably because I have got distracted and not realised that I really have already posted - hence 'never' the forum's fault - just mine

I'm so very tech-ignorant and hesitate to proffer an opinion on such things let alone a theory of cause but I have noticed that when my machine is playing silly buggers like that I can often solve it by logging out for a little while and coming back through, I assume, a different portal and glitch he gone...As always I think it's my fault or my machine's..

If you search double post on google you will see mention of it but nothingto nail anything down on.

I have seen it on PF but I'm pretty much certain it was caused by either an outage or blip I forget which where I thought something had been lost, did a back and foung my text still ther so hit post again. Yours doesn't appear to be anything like that.

What browser are you using. You could always try a different one for a while. Is it an old machine or operating system. Tis often the case that such problems can be fixed by dextrous use of a small rectangle of plastic.

 I use 'Brave' these days and Windows 7. Didn't like 10 much.. The machine is getting on a bit but so is my old car and so am I and I'm not a fan of mixing new bits into old systems.. The minor problems on here are just that and I'll not fret about 'em.

One other thing you could try if you have it already is a different mouse. I still think two clicks fast enough might do it and maybe the mouse has a bit of a stutttttttter

When I finish this post I'll double-click extra-rapido see if it does it.

Nope.. and I'm clicking as fast as I can.. :hmm:  Oh, a thought.. I don't double-click when I submit a post, just one click does it..

The mouse could conceivably produce multiple click. Not that I've ever heard of such a thing.

A google search produced this. The link takes you to the bottom of what may be a long line of diagnostics. I never read them. Maybe you should though as it seems pretty clear that the problem is yours alone of those that replied.

GRRRR! First I get told my last post was less than 5 seconds ago then it tells me I already submitted it.. I'll try for a cleaner portal.. It must be my old machine or maybe the ghost in it..

Just try a different mouse first. Or go through  the things in that trouble shooting link.

Just try any other mouse. If it is the mouse it's a cheap fix.

I have never had a notice stating I have already posted in here or the other place , I prefer posting in here than the other place however I still post in the other place as more members at this moment in time submit more posts and topics to discuss than in here.

As when and if members post more in here I can give the other place the elbow
