Title: Roundabout Rules
Post by: Alex on January 21, 2022, 11:21:52 AM
Changes are due to come into force from 29 January " Drivers are now told to give priority to cyclists on roundabouts and not cut across their path. Rule 186 states: "Give them plenty of room and do not attempt to overtake them within their lane. Allow them to move across your path as they travel around the roundabout. "

Can anyone see an increase in back end prangs ?   I think most people are wary of cyclists, most of whom are a bloody nuisance ! no lights, dark clothing, earphones, pedaling like a Bat out of Hell (God rest his soul) and some use mobile phones - for which we'd be fined.  PLUS they don't pay any road tax. I suppose you don't have them but those Voi scooters are more of a menace in these parts than cyclists - they're mostly all put off by the pot holes and roads completely unsuitable for bikes.

I recently got a bike. I have an excellent solution to roundabouts - I avoid them. I may only have 10 years or so left but I'd prefer to be able to walk for most of them.

Bloody menaces...

They can kill themselves without assistance. From my CCTV - I saw the kerfuffle after so downloaded it.

I could have trimmed a few seconds more off the front and only left it running as long as I did as it shows the sad outcome that both rider and scooter were largely unscathed although I suspect a bit of adjustment to the scooter was needed for it to run without the wheel catching a bit

His view of the road was obscured by the low foliage on the tree which the council finally got around to cutting. Still no excuse. I feel sorry for the car driver who must have some lightning reactions.

He shouldn't have been on the path anyway. The T&C say ride on the road. They've been trialling them here a while now. I think they are dangerous. A nuisance on both road and pavements.

I'll reword that. They aren't dangerous if ridden with consideration but as most of the riders are millennials they aren't.
