Alex

I've no idea what my payments will be when my fixed rate ends at the end of January.  I'm dreading it.

klondike

Most are on the cap which is similar across the country.
Mine is
Electric
32.81p/kWh
44.12p/day

Gas
10.24p/kWh
26.84p/day

Plug your usages into that and you'll get the answer. It will be about 2.5 times higher. You have saved a lot by still being on a fixed rate. My provider went bust do my fixed rate went with them.

There is a tiny glimmer of hope, although I am not optimistic, is that the world price of oil and gas is falling. Unfortunately the greed of suppliers is rising to compensate.

1955vintage

With Shell Energy mine are:

Elect 33.698 plus standing of 52.64 per day

Gas is 10.425 plus standing charge of 28.48 per day.

In September 2021 , with Pure Planet it was :

Elect 16.334 plus monthly charge of £5.18 (or 17.26p per day)

Gas  was 3.227 plus monthly see of £5.18 (or 17.26p per day)

So electric has doubled, gas has trebled and the standing charges the same.

Did you get bumped into a new supplier and off a long term deal ?
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

I was with Avro who went bust in September 2021. I hadn't been with them long but it would only have been a one year fix anyway so would be long finished by now. I used to switch every time a fix ended to whatever deal looked best at the time.

The downstairs temperature was ok for them but I've put the heating back on since the temperatures are dropping again.

They've all got warm beds.

I've also topped up the two hedgehog / mouse / large mouse shelters with a load more meadow hay for any visitor who wishes to use them.

We've been gulled into paying high prices so we won't see any reduction back to the 2020 levels even when the wholesale price is back at 2020 levels.

That £35 would have been with no central heating on, but it will be more now I've put it on for the furry ones.

in 2018 the household electric bill for the year was £1440. Last year it was £6108. This year, unless things change, it will be at least £7716. To be fair, I am expecting this year to be less than that figure, because I am economising like mad compared to earlier years, but I'm not happy!
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

There's nothing we can do about it at the moment and I won't be cold, so I put heating on or electric oil filled radiator.

Just imagine having pre-paid.. ! My mate does.. She goes to the shop to get a top-up..  No extra money.. no gas/electric..
Mine has risen quite a bit.. I do put the heating on for a couple of hours in the morning plus the same around 5 ish..
Good old Ugg boots and a warm jacket helps.. But I have noticed that even set at 22 it is still chilly.. My house is well insulated..
I go to bed early to watch the tv and read..
It will soon be Spring... and then Summer.. We will all feel warmer..

Diasi.. You are a star.. The way you look after the furry friends, indoor and out ,
is something to be proud of..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I heard on the radio that lots of vouchers sent out to people with token/prepaid meters haven't been used. £66 a month isn't to be ignored, especially as most who use those meters are unlikely to be well off.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

There. Fixed that for you

Scrumpy

    You can bet on it.. That is a trait only us Brits have..
We moan when it's hot🥵
When it snows ⛄️
Rains ☔️   Having to Queue...  Bunions.. Aches and pains..
The other half.. kids.. and barking dogs..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

That's if they have even got to some of these people.  My granddaughter lives in a shared house in London, the five tenants each take a turn to fill up the meter, they haven't seen a voucher, they think it goes to the Landlord who hasn't passed it onto them.
