I see from my BBC Weather App that we return to snow and ice tonight. Minus 3 or 4 the next few nights, please please be so very careful people, I feel like I've been trapped in hell the last couple of weeks, it's even worse than my knee replacements were. I would not wish this on anyone. :yell:
local forecast says heading for -6C overnight tonight and below freezing all day Monday - as Raven says - take care
Chin up Raven.. You will soon be out of there..
Dare I say it !!! We have sunshine.. Lovely morning..
we have sunshine - but it is 3C and a bitingly cold wind
We're due minus 4 tonight, must admit today has been a lot colder than yesterday.
Tomorrow's another day Raven :upvote:
according to the local forecast, minus 6c here at the mo' and won't get above freezing all day
It's 1c here & quite foggy but it's predicted sun for the afternoon.
It's 13.4c in my bedroom / living room / office.

It makes me feel cold just to read that! I must be a delicate little hothouse flower compared to your good self!

I do dress appropriately.
Most people check the weather outside & decide what to wear.
I check the temperature inside & decide what to wear.
Lol

I don't have a back pack, but the rest is pretty close, including the beard.
I've estimated that our gas cost will be around £35 this month, including the standing charge.
Lol :upvote:
I've relented & put on the downstairs heating for the furry ones.
quite right to! :upvote: :upvote:
OH is living in a fur lined, hooded garment, our daughter bought it for his birthday. He's still got a rotten cough, and little energy. The thermal tee shirt as his base layer helps too, but our gas bill is still going to be the highest we've ever had. £35 won't cover a week atm.
£35 for a months gas! my oil costs me roughly £130 each month now, plus the electric has gone up to about £120. My oil used to be £70 a month and electric £60 ish, now I am paying double.
I've no idea what my payments will be when my fixed rate ends at the end of January. I'm dreading it.
Most are on the cap which is similar across the country.
Mine is
Electric
32.81p/kWh
44.12p/day
Gas
10.24p/kWh
26.84p/day
Plug your usages into that and you'll get the answer. It will be about 2.5 times higher. You have saved a lot by still being on a fixed rate. My provider went bust do my fixed rate went with them.
There is a tiny glimmer of hope, although I am not optimistic, is that the world price of oil and gas is falling. Unfortunately the greed of suppliers is rising to compensate.
With Shell Energy mine are:
Elect 33.698 plus standing of 52.64 per day
Gas is 10.425 plus standing charge of 28.48 per day.
In September 2021 , with Pure Planet it was :
Elect 16.334 plus monthly charge of £5.18 (or 17.26p per day)
Gas was 3.227 plus monthly see of £5.18 (or 17.26p per day)
So electric has doubled, gas has trebled and the standing charges the same.
:yell: :yell: :yell:
Did you get bumped into a new supplier and off a long term deal ?
I was with Avro who went bust in September 2021. I hadn't been with them long but it would only have been a one year fix anyway so would be long finished by now. I used to switch every time a fix ended to whatever deal looked best at the time.

The downstairs temperature was ok for them but I've put the heating back on since the temperatures are dropping again.
They've all got warm beds.
I've also topped up the two hedgehog / mouse / large mouse shelters with a load more meadow hay for any visitor who wishes to use them.

We've been gulled into paying high prices so we won't see any reduction back to the 2020 levels even when the wholesale price is back at 2020 levels.

That £35 would have been with no central heating on, but it will be more now I've put it on for the furry ones.
in 2018 the household electric bill for the year was £1440. Last year it was £6108. This year, unless things change, it will be at least £7716. To be fair, I am expecting this year to be less than that figure, because I am economising like mad compared to earlier years, but I'm not happy!
There's nothing we can do about it at the moment and I won't be cold, so I put heating on or electric oil filled radiator.
Just imagine having pre-paid.. ! My mate does.. She goes to the shop to get a top-up.. No extra money.. no gas/electric..
Mine has risen quite a bit.. I do put the heating on for a couple of hours in the morning plus the same around 5 ish..
Good old Ugg boots and a warm jacket helps.. But I have noticed that even set at 22 it is still chilly.. My house is well insulated..
I go to bed early to watch the tv and read..
It will soon be Spring... and then Summer.. We will all feel warmer..
Diasi.. You are a star.. The way you look after the furry friends, indoor and out ,
is something to be proud of..
I heard on the radio that lots of vouchers sent out to people with token/prepaid meters haven't been used. £66 a month isn't to be ignored, especially as most who use those meters are unlikely to be well off.
It will soon be Spring... and then Summer.. We will all feel warmer be moaning it is too hot
There. Fixed that for you
   You can bet on it.. That is a trait only us Brits have..
We moan when it's hot🥵
When it snows ⛄️
Rains ☔️ Having to Queue... Bunions.. Aches and pains..
The other half.. kids.. and barking dogs..

That's if they have even got to some of these people. My granddaughter lives in a shared house in London, the five tenants each take a turn to fill up the meter, they haven't seen a voucher, they think it goes to the Landlord who hasn't passed it onto them.
