Seems quite a lenient sentence ?
allegedly he was 14years old when it happened, fifty odd years ago [not an excuse of course]
I bet he has done more since but hasn't been found out, once they start they seldom stop.

That council was never bathed in glory. I lived there, and worked for them in the 90s. Parochial attitudes, and imagined power. With their huge majority, (I seem to remember 63 out of 66 councillors were Labour) they weren't challenged. Jobs and promotions given to party members etc.
And look what happened, even before the grooming gangs came to light, there was corruption. The deputy leader was jailed for three years for spending money meant to defray poverty in the region, on high living, to put it politely!

Why wasn't the council investigated by the police ? too afraid of being labeled 'racist' perhaps ?
The council was investigated. The police and crime commissioner for South Yorks ended up resigning as did the council leaders. No prosecutions AFAIK.
