By chance, came across the late John Denver's 'Sunshine' track being played to a live audience. What intrigued me was one of the backing musicians. He was playing what looked like an over sized clarinet - but it seemed to be brass rather than woodwind, with a single reed clarinet style and the pitch and range of an alto sax - what might it have been?

The Sopranino sax might be what you're describing..
Thanks - could well have been - never realised it didn't curve like its bigger brothers
Mike
could it have been an Oboe
Alto Sax come in straight too.
Never knew that. Thanks
Mike
