Title: Eurovision Song Contest
Post by: Alex on May 10, 2022, 10:35:30 AM
Come on own up, how many watch this ?   I use to be an avid fan, 'we Brits' even had Eurovision parties,  I kid you not.   It became political of course and UK was always null point, or at least in the bottom three songs.

What are the odds on this year's winner,  Ukraine  ? yes even though they're at war, they're competing in the song contest and at the moment are favourites to win it.   If they do win, it will be another confirmation that the contest is a political farce.

It will probably win as you say but I couldn't listen to much of it. Perhaps I'm just an old fart.

I stopped listening to the show a long time ago. Devoting an entire evening to mediocre songs and finding out just how much the rest of the world hates us just didn't seem to be a good use of my time.

I thought maybe the Eurovision entry would be this one...

Or the English language version

Perhaps there were afraid of null points from Russia?
Ah no forgot - they were chucked out.

Me either. Posh frocks and forgettable melodies.

I liked Katie Boyle, multi lingual, and so elegant.  Wogan didn't do a bad job either, and we've had some popular entries. I have little interest in it these days.

I think that song is a bit boring.  We don't watch Eurovision any more.

Haven't watches it since a couple of years after Riverdance, how long ago was that?  It gets worse each year and the bloke with a beard in drag finished it off completely when it won.  About time it was given a decent burial, absolute rubbish.

He has a reasonable voice, but the song is nothing special.  Bookies not taking any more bets on Ukraine winning

Well they did win, surprise surprise, but guess where next year's contest will be held ?  Yep, UK another surprise, surprise.  UK will host the contest on behalf of Ukraine, I wonder who is paying for it, probably the BBC so that'll be the British tax payer then - but not me
Now to decide which city will host it, surely they can't choose London !!!

Me too - I think the last time I watched, Abba won - and even that may not have been live

The last time I watched it it was River Dance, how long ago was that? I couldn't tell you much about the songs though, they have to be pretty dreadful to qualify.

Our entry was great this year..Sam Ryder did us proud..
I don't watch it.. I haven't done so for many years..I find it rather boring.. Even Ukraine couldn't tweak my interest.
