Title: Cremation and Funeral Plans
Post by: Ashy on September 01, 2022, 11:09:47 AM
Why should I bother with one of those, I'll never live long enough to claim on it.

Just hope they're insured I suppose.

No, if and when I die, someone will burn or bury me. or else put up with the smell.

These adverts infuriate me, bloodsucking leaches trying to get your money. My kids will inherit my house, providing the government doesn't get there first, they will have my money and what they do with me is up to them, I won't be there to see it.

My worry would be the provider's future credibility? OK now accepting lots of monthly payments, but what about 20 year plus payouts when the time comes. Shreiks 'Ponzi' to me as a untrusting grizzled old ex-hack I'm afraid! Like any other companies these firms, in the event of failure would be 'administered' by a liquidator and your investment would resort to becoming an unprotected creditor - "sorry mate", but a few pence (if any) in the pound refund! Better I would consider to take out a simple short term life insurance policy and instruct your executor to deal with one of these cheap disposal companies upon your passing if you don't want a full funeral?

Thats just what we've done. The kids can use it as they wish.

Agree. Recently, I realized that how I will be buried is not my business, but the business of my family. Maybe they need to come to my grave, or maybe they don't want to - let them decide for themselves. My family need it first
