Neither would be Prime Minister has mentioned much about immigration to this country, legal or illegal. Various reports here and in European media state there are half a million displaced people from Africa, the Middle East and South Asia already in Europe, with many of them heading for Germany and the UK. Are we to accept that there is no solution ?

For me, firstly I'd like to see a Prime Minister who accepts this is a serious issue. The only solution I see is to turn the boats back and keep turning, until the message gets through to Calais and Dunkirk that it's a futile exercise.
The boats they use are too fragile to turn back. Attempting to do so would probably sink them and then they'd have to be rescued anyway. Rwanda might work except we won't be allowed to send any by the ECHR but even if we could I expect the costs would be huge and it wouldn't be all.
I think we are stuffed. We don't even deport those that fail in their requests. Anyway come winter I fully expect there to be problems that dwarf even this issue. We are in for Interesting Times.
If traffickers can advertise on social media, if somali migrants can find them, if dinghies are supplied to them by somebody, etc., then this evil trade can be stopped and the people responsible prevented from continuing it.
And of course if all asylum claims had to be processed, start to finish, in France it would save them ever coming here.

I am sure there are many politicians who would have illegal immigrants turned back and not ASSISTED to our shores..
But there would be an outcry from the goody goodies.. and any politician making the WRONG suggestion would be out on his/her ear..
Politicians need to have the people backing them..
They will need to bite the bullet at some point or start building internment camps which IMO is what they should have done from the start rather than use hotels.
As I understand it, some estates that look very much like internment camps or prisons are being built as we speak. One of them is in Wellingborough. Whether that's for prisoners, illegal immigrants or quarantine I don't know.
How quickly they can build/find accommodation for these people never ceases to amaze me..
Some years ago my wife knew a family who had become homeless through no fault of their own and they had to live in a hostel, it wasn't four star luxury, very crude and threatening actually, they had to wait years for a council flat.
This lot ought to be turned straight round, no way are they seeking asylum, fleeing war etc.

Talking of which, on my local area notice board a family had been giving refuge to a Ukranian woman, she has now gone back to Ukraine - for a holiday !!!! They are being told if they leave the host family's home and declare themselves homeless, they'll be given their own accommodation. I don't know if that last part is true, but the holiday bit certainly is. Most from Ukraine are genuinely seeking shelter, but not all it seems......
There is a difference though Alex. The Ukrainians mainly want to go home, the Albanians don't... :angry:
Perhaps they should send the illegals on a holiday.. somewhere..
We must be coming close to the point where there will be no alternative. Rwanda is nice at this time of year, I believe.

Any refugee who goes home on holiday should lose their refugee status, if it's safe for a holiday it's safe to go back. Have heard of other "refugees" who have gone back to the middle east for holidays, they should also have to stay there if they do, they must think it's safe or they wouldn't go.

I'm aware of that GM, but what I'm saying is not all of them do, possibly because of their immediate eligibility to our generous benefits.

A security chap was saying on GB news this morning, many of the Albanians have come here to join criminal gangs. Why are we even considering asylum claims from Albanians they are seeking to join the EU for goodness sake. Put them on the first plane out bound for Albania, one problems solved.
Apparently they can come to UK via normal routes and get a 180 day visa cheaper than the cost of a dinghy trip. Why would they choose the more expensive route and why are a lot of them covering their faces ? These people should be on a same day flight back to Albania.
Why should we have to pay any bloody air fares.!!!
The day will come when they have their own shipping lane..
Or some miracle worker will part the waves so they can walk across...
There must be something dodgy about the people if they for some reason must not be documented.

Since there's no war in Albania & it's on the approved EU Accession List, they fail the first hurdle of the Refugee test.

I would bet they are housed at our expense and can file an asylum claim, apparently they say they have been trafficked, so they will not sent immediately back to Albania, and if their asylum claim is rejected they will still not be on a flight back to Albania.
