Title: Useless
Post by: klondike on April 29, 2024, 09:53:29 AM
I checked my current account this morning.

Two debits from an organisation I never saw before then a credit. All for the same amount.

WNC Income. Who the hell are they? Google came up with West Northants Income" so it's my rates which have not been collected for a couple of months as they take 10 payments a year.

It's the end of the month so I wonder how many didn't have enough left in their accounts for the double payment error. I did but it was only by chance as I usually move most of my surplus cash into savings and back into the current account as bills become due. There was a bit extra as the useless Principality BS had repaid the money from the account I closed as their login code texts don't come through to my phone into it rather than the bank I originally funded it with and I couldn't be bothered to move it.

We pay ours in 12 instalments. I like to keep things simple.

Mine is paid by DD in 10 instalments.  February and March are "free" months, but of course they're not, it just gives the council time to work out the next year's increase

Our council tax is paid in 10 instalments from April to January, but I get a phone notification for every bank transaction so I'd know if the council ever took a payment in Feb or March.

All three of mine were on the same day. They must have done the debit run twice, realised their cock up then done a credit run. If it was all ratepayers I imagine it could easily have got some declined and put others into overdraft.
