Is there even going to be a members vote. Last I heard (but no TV licence) was that Boris wnated to hang in as PM until after he'd had some bash at Chequers which he'd promise his wife and there were plots for a very quick MP only vote to get him out of the door and the news PDQ.

Both Wallace and Baker have stated they are not standing. Kemi Badenoch, who I've never heard of and has a mountainous majority in Rab Butler's old seat of Saffron Walden has entered the race. So its a nett gain of one for the Leaver's.

Funny how all the 'remoaners' and their supporters say, people no longer care about this!

The knives are STILL out !
"Who'd have thought it: appointing a Boris-hating Labour MP to chair the investigation into the PM over whether he misled the House – someone who'd already decided the outcome of the inquiry when Tweeting Boris had done so – looks like it may result in a politically-motivated stitch-up designed to humiliate the beleaguered PM further, and force him out of Parliament. Yesterday evening it emerged Harman's privileges committee has quietly changed the terms of their investigation."

It's a shame they don't put as much energy into the dighy crisis.

hugh

I do not think Boris will worry too much about that, he will most likely get a good job in a newspaper. Rishi back stabber number one, very unlikely to become Prime Minister. Members like myself will not vote for him.

This may just be gossip   but I've read that you can join the Conservative (or Labour party) even if you live overseas.  Those who joined before June will receive a ballot to vote, maybe Phil as a member will know if this is possible ?

I live abroad, can vote in the 'UK' general election and the Conservative Party leadership election. I've been a member since 1967 un broken. You have to have been a member for three months before the Leadership Ballot papers are sent out to be able to do this.

Thanks Cass, the 'rumour' went on to suggest that many will have joined the Tory party recently, thinking they will get to vote (for Sunak  ) but as you say they needed to have joined over 3 months ago.  It was a tongue in cheek posting, suggesting the Tory party has many new members living in Mumbai

Cassandra

Alex I wouldn't mind betting the 'Sunak' team has many rich 'Corporate' donors from Mumbai, one being a certain Mrs Sunak!

Yes, squeaky clean, with no skeletons in the family closet, Harriet Harperson.
