Title: The Buzzz has gone up...
Post by: Scrumpy on September 10, 2022, 11:58:18 AM
The Queen's Bee Keeper  had to inform the bees that the Queen had died and they now had a King..
He told them they must be good.. The hives are then tied with Black Ribbon..
This is tradition..
That is what makes us unique.

Watching all the pomp and ceremony this morning from St James' Palace, the uniforms and everything, this is part of what being a Brit means !

This is something we still do better than anyone else in the world, I'm proud to say.

Many countries love us because of all the pomp and ceremony..
They travel to be here when something of great importance is happening..and love to be part of..
When Charles spoke about the loss  his mother and how he will do his best.. My heart went out to him..
When he approached the crowds .. shook hands.. accepted a kiss...
I think he has 'cracked it'.

I have to thank you for putting me in the position of knowledge.

I found this interesting so I sent it to some of my WhatsApp contacts & they replied telling me not to take the piss at a time like this.

So you can imagine how smug I felt when they Googled it & then had to apologise to me.

They all agreed, as do I, that it most certainly makes us unique.

I've heard this story about having to tell the Bees of a death before.  :shh:

Maybe it's a bee thing more than a royal thing then. I recall hearing odd tales about bees but don't recall what - maybe that was one or even the only one of them.

it was - maybe still is - an old country custom - first heard of it over 70 years ago

I'm sorry for the dogs. You can't explain to a dog.

Dogs miss their owners/family when they are no longer with them.. They don't understand why someone has left them..  My heart goes out to them..

Our two yorkies, who we got from my brother and sister in law, didn't. One was mum and the other her daughter who had been them from birth. They howled first night and we thought they missed their owners. I opened the bedroom door and they made a beeline for our bed. Not a further peep was heard. When we went back to Wales to visit again a year or so later the dogs pretty much ignored them.

We are collecting a eight year old basset later this week. A couple in their seventies owned him until the wife died. The dog is grieving,he was a mummy's boy, and he has been blaming his dad. Poor sod is totally confused.

My wife is very good with dogs and our basset is very friendly. We are optimistic but know it will be difficult.

So true. After Veronica died, Fleur did her very best never to let me out of her sight. Whenever I went out she would sit at the window of the small lounge - the windows are actually French doors looking mournful - then when I returned she would still be sitting there and the moment she saw the car she would dash to the back door to welcome me home - something else I miss.
