Title: Monkey Pox
Post by: Alex on May 19, 2022, 08:56:02 PM
Have you read about this ? at last count we had 9 cases in UK, they've now got it in France.  We do have a vaccine for it apparently, as it's been in Africa for years.
I hope this doesn't become the new Covid

"Monkeypox causes fever symptoms as well as a distinctive bumpy rash. It is usually mild, although there are two main strains: the Congo strain, which is more severe – with up to 10% mortality- and the West African strain, which has a fatality rate in about 1% of cases."  No panic then !

Extracts that suggest to me that this isn't another covid...

The cases registered in the United Kingdom have been reported as the West African strain, which is relatively mild compared to the Central African variant. The illness generally runs its course within three to four weeks. The West African strain is seldom deadly — and when it is, it's mostly in small children.

Human-to-human transmission of monkeypox requires close bodily contact. Often, the transmission chain is broken after a small number of individuals are infected.

According to British health authorities, the four infected individuals identified as gay or bisexual men. Still, many health experts in the UK have made clear that they have yet to see sufficient evidence to suggest human monkeypox is a sexually transmitted infection.

"Although the current cluster of cases is in men who have sex with men, it is probably too early to make conclusions about the mode of transmission or assume that sexual activity was necessary for transmission, unless we have clear epidemiological data and analysis," said Dr. Michael Skinner, a virology expert at Imperial College London.

I just like the way the reports link monkeys with Africans.

Haven't they heard about political correctness.

Wasn't this how Aids was supposed to have originally started something to do with monkeys?

Betcha Mr. Smith, Brown, Tom, Dick or Harry aren't
bringing this virus into the country from Africa.
O, our wonderful multi cultural society.

Those Spaniards look to be making a challenge though. We could lose the title. They clearly haven't seen the test Oy found or they'd be a bit more certain what pox they've caught.

Just came across another twist in the monkey pox story.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/gender-self-identification-could-be-muddling-monkeypox-outbreak-data-in-uk_4555802.html?slsuccess=1

The nature of the monkeypox outbreak might be muddled by gender self-identification, according to experts, as it emerged that the one percent of infected female individuals in the UK could in fact be biologically male.

An Infectious Disease Behaviorist told The Epoch Times that while it's true for accuracy that data on both sex and gender is important, focusing on how someone identifies in society is pandering to politics and risks "weakening public health surveillance systems."

The UK has the highest current recorded levels of the tropical disease in the current outbreak which is spreading predominantly amongst and affecting gay or bisexual men. The number of confirmed cases is 793 as of June 22.

Sounds to me like the old adage  "Flies spread diseases. Keep yours zipped" is applicable in this.

Of course HMG will never post the ethnic profiles of the 'Monkeypoxers' but I'd hazard a guess?
