007

seems that next 007 will be a black man. Following on from the idiocy of a female Dr. Who (never watched it) another smack in the teeth for tradition - and something else that I will not watch. Having watched the final Craig film, in which 007 is killed, a fact acknowledged by his erstwhile colleagues in a  farewell drink in his memory, to resurrect him calls for the same lever of the Bobby Ewing (not that I watched any of it) 'it was only a dream' stupidity.
What gets into these idiots?

007 is just a service number. Anybody can be 007.  Likely to be a black female declaring as a bloke anyway.

I have all the recordings of James Bond films, right from the very first and, wow, have things changed over all those years!

Despite that, they all have one thing in common: they haven't strayed from the original concept of a white male British special agent (although they look different as they are played by different men!)

But when they turn woke and try to change the original concept simply to please all the young trendy modern people we seem to have bred, they have definitely lost my support.

Worse still, it isn't only James Bond is it?  It's happening in real life, all around us.
All I can say is that I'm glad I'm the age I am, and that I have no children!

Sean Connery WAS James Bond, none of the others came close. Idris Elba was mentioned as a possibility, he's handsome and at least he's a fella !

I think Arthur Lowe should play Samson in the new film.

Actually, I remember from the latest Bond film that 007 was a woman this time.
Nevertheless, they retained the (male) Bond as himself.  It's just that the number 007 had been handed to a woman as his replacement.
So 'Bond' was still Bond, but 007 was no longer Bond!

Shaken not shtirred! No one else came close, although I quite liked Moore's humorous take on it.  I'd like James Norton or Tom Hardy. The latter would make the most evil Bond I think.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

oooh  Tom Hardy is tasty  I had to Google James Norton - I think he'll always be a priest to me

Not a big Bond fan but I did like Sean Connery, especially in Goldfinger, he was the one and only Bond as far as I'm concerned.

David Niven was the first Bond but I don't think that film was part of what became the Bond franchise. I largely lost interest in them but have seen a couple of the Daniel Craig ones.

I read some of the books as a schoolboy but when I recently started to listen to them as audiobooks they showed their age much too much for my taste and I gave up after either the first or possibly the second.

David Niven as Bond was in the 'spoof' Casino Royale in 1967. The first Bond film, starred  Connery, and was 'Dr. No' in 1962 - five years before Niven

Just checked and you are quite correct. For some reason I thought Casino Royale predated the others.
