The Chat Room / Re: Under cover

I talk to my neighbour over the back fence, their little boy is a real cutie! We put their bins back when they're at work.

I remember covers on TVs!  Never understood why.

The Chat Room / Under cover

We had terrible storms most of the night.. lightning went on and on..

It made me think of my mum..
Every evening she would put a cover over the tv..
I have no idea why..

She would not stand at the sink washing up or have a bath during a storm..
And her curlers had to come out..

Such a simple life.. No gadgets.. And neighbours talked over the fence and at the front gate..

I bet you anything you like the papers will be full of people saying how wonderful Marcus Smith was..
That he didn't deserve to die..
He was loved by all and always ready to help others..

How the farmer was a bully.. and had a quick temper..

Wilfred bought a toupee, It was coarse and really cheap
It was most uncomfortable and his head would overheat
He went out wearing it one windy day
A strong gust caught him and the syrup blew away
It is now laying on the head of Florrie the sheep

Dickie was excited he was off to sunny Spain

Agreed. Was he expected to let them take what they wanted and perhaps put his family at risk?

If these people want to break in and steal what is not theirs they should take whatever is coming to them..
I think everyone has a right to protect themselves and their property..
Shoot first..
The thieves could be carrying knives/ guns..

I wouldn't put my life at risk by politely asking 'Are you armed'?

Best not to try and rob a farmer they tend to have a gun handy .

General Discussion / Re: Madeleine McCann

As always the mention of Madeleine McCann brings out all the worst in people .
The mad conspiracy theories ( why anyone would believe a Charlatan  like Goncarlo Amarol , a liar with form of locking up parents of missing girls and someone who is despised even by his fellow cops ) is beyond me .

And then there is the arrogant GO syndrome .
So they are doctors ?
Doctors  are not infallible they get things wrong too .
The McCanns are not an appealing looking couple which goes against them as it did the in the case of Lindy Chamberlain. , the mother of the child taken by a dingo .
Mrs McCann has never worked again as a GP

They will take their sorrow and guilt  to the grave .
Who would walk in their shoes for even a minute .

I say there but for the grace of God / luck go many of us .

Just seen that there is an article in the DM today re the case

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13341059/I-fled-UK-meet-Christian-Brueckner-Portugals-drifters-Madeleine-McCann.html

For the record I don't think any more public money should be spent on the case .
The child is most likely dead . Abducted children are usually killed within the first six hours of being taken .

Can't argue with that.

For the siblings it wouldn't even be a distant memory if the case had been closed. Just something that happened when they were tiny.

Whatever happened, whoever was responsible, Maddie's either dead or abducted. Her siblings and wider family have suffered the loss too.  I too am at a loss to know how so much money seems to be available for one missing child.
