Biden has told US subjects to get out of the Ukraine now.. as are British subjects..

I hope they do.. and if not. I hope they don't expect their country to get them out when the battle starts.. Putting our armies at risk..
These people will always find someone else to blame.. for their stupidity..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Sheila

Anyone who hasn't got out by now must be stupid.

crabbyob

IMO folks who go there are not too bright
ok if you are related, or work related, but both should have left by now...

Alex

I don't think Russia wants war, she just wants NATO to back off !

Floydy

I still think (hope) it's just sabre rattling. If you're going to invade a country you move in, not hang around the borders for weeks giving them chance to organise their defences and get allies to send them arms? I think Putin has cocked this scare mongering up, it's got out of hand and he knows it and is currently trying to find a way to back off with a little pride and dignity.

Scrumpy

I think you could be right Floydy..
Russia always likes to show off it's power..   I think Putin is just letting the west know what it is capable of..  he will back down and calling it a military exercise..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

NATO will not back down and would be foolish if we did. If we showed any weakness he will before long invade, and take a small part of Ukraine and keep it.

the Ukrainians did tap the gas pipline that they were richly rewarded for allowing it to cross their land.
and certainly deserve some retribution for helping to cause our inflation, so now as well as paying extra for the gas we are expected to defend them  :?: .. :waiting:

Remember the Cuban Missile crisis ? this is the same only in reverse.  For Soviet missiles to be placed so close to the US was unthinkable, so why should Russia accept the move eastwards by NATO missiles  ?  I can't remember the year, but I do remember promises were made to Russia that NATO would not camp on the Russian border, that promise has already been broken.

crabbyob

so should all Russias neighbours be barred from NATO membership :?:  which would allow the Russians to continue to bully them...?

Alex

Does Russia bully Finland ?

crabbyob

Pass.... in my [limited] experience Russia bullies everyone...

Alex

Finland isn't a member of NATO , they have a border with Russia (I think )I  read that somewhere......

crabbyob

so in the big game Finland are a prawn [ :yahoo: ] with nowt much other than snow and ice, of which Russia has plenty of its own...

No need for any missile to be placed in Ukraine as it would cost money to have troops there to guard them. Missiles can be based any where in Europe to hit Russia. Ukraine was once apart of the Russian empire and they want it back.
