Technically if they are selling more than are being scrapped or exported, then EVs are becoming more popular. just that the initial enthusiasm for the product may have declined.

Quote from: klondike on Yesterday at 10:31:52 AMWhat Rees-Mogg wants is reform of the Tory party. The grass roots are doubtless behind him but the Parliamentary party is now beyond redemption. My hope is for a total wipeout. Let the grass roots see that the brand has sunk lower than Ratners. That way there is an outside chance of either a reformed Tory party or maybe just Reform, Either way expect Socialism for the rest of your days now I fear.
Indeed, I've resigned myself to departing under a Labour government.

Quote from: JBR on Today at 06:12:45 PMTrue.
Despite the ongoing assurances that Reform will never form a government, either now or in years to come, that is how I shall certainly vote.
And damn the consequences!  My conscience is clear.
This is my view as well.

But we will be able to rubbish whatever the next Parliament, government & opposition, does as we didn't vote for it.

Quote from: JBR on Today at 05:56:37 PMYou are perfectly correct, of course, and I am convinced that despite all the enthusiastic messages put out by the government, the majority of British people will not buy them for the reasons you state.  The only encouragement which induces some people (including next door, who have one with a home charger) is the fact that little or no road tax is payable along with other probable 'benefits' which persuade them to participate.  I haven't asked for 'next door's' opinion, but I assume that he only travels and works locally, so an electric milk-float would probably be all he needs.  Wait until he tries to sell it!

Incidentally, I am encouraged to hear that GB News seems to be watched 'over there'.  It is, of course, the only news programme for me, because it is the only one I believe.
I've long said that an EV is little more than a luxurious shopping trolley.

Stripping away all aspects of so-called man-made climate change in a decision to buy an EV, the pool of private drivers who can afford £40,000 upwards for a new EV is quite limited.

And the same pool is very limited for those who can afford to buy a second hand EV & replace the batteries for £10,000 upwards.

Quote from: ansu on Today at 04:52:42 PMAt school the topic "3rd Reich - Hitler" was not really dealt with. However, Hitler wasn't born in Germany, but in Austria and we were told that the reason why he was so successful was that after having lost WW I the Germans were poor like church mice and the reparation payments to the winners were very very high. Many people were unemployed and Hitler promised them the blue from the sky as we say. I don't know whether this is true or not, because in our family - due to our experience - this topic was a taboo topic. In the town where I live now many Jews lived before WW II and on a sightseeing tour around our town the guide told us that the Jews were treated like cattle by the Nazis.

Yes, I'm sure that all of that is understandable.  According to everything I have heard, the Jews were not only treated like cattle, but very efficiently exterminated, not that I agree with it of course.

I assume that Hitler's hatred of the Jews was at least partly due to their control of much of the money in the country.  I cannot understand any other possible alternative reason as, unlike our muslim invaders, I'm sure they weren't expanding in numbers exponentially.  Neither were they interesting themselves in politics with the intention of eventually taking control of the country.

Of course, I could be talking out of my backside!

Quote from: Cassandra on Today at 03:42:29 PMThe callous mob methods of the Globalists apply. The manufacturers are being compelled to produce them solely by 2035, (2030 a la Starmer). By a range of interlinked international legal consequences for NOT resorting to market force demands they have to produce these hideous, substandard creations. The builders face bankruptcy at present so they are fully on board to support green backed lies. Thats how 'TeamWorld' works.

EV's are unsafe, have no established trade in value, except reliably zero, weigh in obesely, have piss-poor range achievement and without monstrous subsidy, very little market penetration in the private sector. An 'expert' on GB news said the other day that sales were up 20%, year on year. How these people (Quentin Wilson is another one) can bend reality in this way, without challenge is yet another example of 'false news'.

Unsold cars are piling up world-wide, compounding the oncoming Economic epoch.

Quote from: Cassandra on Today at 04:08:35 PMDid you see the new frightening face of change on GBN the other night (Patrick Christy) as Suella Braverman tried to discuss with Fiona Lali from the Revolutionary Communist Party, the Pro Palestine students occupation of the Lawns at Kings College Cambridge.

A fully programmed 'Bot' she represents where public funds are going in supporting these frothing idealists.

She starts from 14mins 25 secs in on the video link below;

I'm not sure, but I assume these people 'camping out' in Cambridge are university students.  Funny how they can't speak their opinions and, of course, cover their faces to conceal their identities.
Like the 'marchers' in Londonistan, they are in my opinion all young people (although there was one old fool - perhaps a relative of O'Biden) who, being university students, consider themselves to be more intelligent than us older people.
Strange that such 'intelligent' people are so easily led by the latest political 'movement'. Still, they'll grow out of it.

The UK doesn't want to take them back?  Well, I believe the majority of us here certainly don't want them.

Unfortunately, our glorious leaders will no doubt demonstrate their opposite intentions.  They seem to like them, for some reason.
