I remember being told a tale when we visited my wife's sister years back. They had retired and were living in Wales. She stopped outside a charity shop and told her husband that she wanted to go in to see if they had any old brass. He misheard and said Jesus surely it hasn't come to that. Just get some from M&S and we'll have to make do somehow.
