Dummies dipped in honey, sugar and anything sweet was popped into a babies mouth.
Sugar water in bottles..

Nooo, the health visitor said they'd have rotten teeth if I put sweet drinks in their bottles. So I didn't. Wasn't I mean.  My father in law gave my daughter his pipe! She blew down it and there were ashes everywhere.served him right!
