Fortunately for HMG the next huge energy rise, in October, will miss the September State Pension caculation period but I would be very suprised if HMG will be able to massage the CPI much below 8%, despite the forecast being 7.4%, the 2.5% base rate just won't apply & the average wages will have increased by around 6%.

So what percentage pension rise do you reckon we'll get next year?

Going into a probable election year too...

Given their apparent death wish I'd say they'll cap it again.

Even 8% of a pittance doesn't amount to much anyway. Of course it amounts to more for those born a year later than me.

If they do it'll be interesting to hear their reasoning.

I suppose they could use the same argument as they used when they dismissed the 8% rise in wages as a blip caused by the Covid pandemic & say that the 2022 inflation is also a blip.

If they do they'll also be able to say the collapse in the grey vote (about the only one they get) is a blip too. The arses have upset me too much to cast a vote for them in the upcoming council elections. Whether I bother in the next general election remains to be seen.

I've written to my MP, Labour, asking for their take on the two tier pension.  I'll be interested in their reply.

What would be the critieria for a two tier pension, 2.5% or average wages, 2.5% or CPI, average wages or CPI?

Or is that what you're asking your MP.

If you get the same type of answer that we got when we asked why the State Pension adult dependant allowance had been scrapped you won't be happy as it'll be some guff about priorities & the need to increase Universal & Pension Credit etc.

I've just asked her what the Labour stance is on younger pensioners being paid so much more than those who retired before 2016.  All Labour seem to do is criticise the government for everything, so I'd like to know how they plan to help older pensioners.

Well as I said, best of luck in getting a reply that doesn't talk down to you about priorities that make you seeth.

According to the governments own figures, it costs £4.7 million per day to house asylum seekers in hotels, they base this on 37.000 people so by my calculations this is a cost of £127,000 per year each for people who have nothing to do with this country at all, and just arrived uninvited on our shores,  they have paid no taxes nor National Insurance.

The new State Pension rate for people who have paid into the system all their lives is £9339 per year, and many of us are on a lower rate than that.

There is something very wrong here.

I think that's just the dinghy boys being kept in hotels.

Let's hope they aren't either for your vote.

I don't feel like voting for anyone at present. Starmer and co will have lost many female voters because of their stance on women's rights to safe spaces etc.  And although there is rage about the current government because of the cost of living and of course, immigration, I'm not sure any other party could do better.   We've had Brexit, covid, lockdown, and now a war in Europe to contend with.  Not really normal times.
