Post by: alfred on February 15, 2022, 08:25:27 PM
Over the years weve had endless amounts of comedy on our screens and i imagine for many of us we all have our favourites .

I liked a couple of the ones that are now banned. I found most of them hysterical and I laughed till I cried at times. Neither did I give a thought about racist intentions.
Alf Garnet in Till Death do us Part.
Love Thy Neighbour.
Bread.
Mrs Brown's Boys.
Home to Roost.
Please Sir.
Fawlty Towers.
Are You Being Served.
Last of the Summer Wine.

I rarely enjoy 'comedy' on the tv and so I rarely watch it and that goes double for the vast majority of American stuff.. Things I chuckle at tend to be wit-based rather than written, like HIGNFY and QI.. I prefer films and for humour, the darker the better.

Two Ronnie
Eric and Ernie
Last of the summer wine
The good life
Yes minister/prime minister
Only Fools and Horses (missed it first time)
Tell death us do part I watched but even then felt it went a bit too far

And that's about it. Must be one of the few who watched Faulty Towers and Mrs Bucket once each - never again

Four candles was a classic! Ronnie Barker wrote some great stuff. Open all Hours and Porridge.  I liked Til Death, Johnny Speight really caught the mood of the time.  Also liked Victoria Wood, Morecambe and Wise of course, and Stanley Baxter was a favourite.  Most of Raven's list in fact.

I've also enjoyed more recent humour, like Drop the Dead Donkey, The Office, and HIGNFY too. Two Doors Down is worth a watch IMO, and Still Game has its moments.  They're both from BBC Scotland.  Laughing is good for us.

My favourite will always be Only Fools & Horses, Del Boy was a class act  Also loved One Foot in the Grave with Victor Meldrew, Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em with Frank Spencer, Keeping Up Appearances with Mrs Bucket and the Two Ronnies.
