Yeaserday my daughter took me to to Dundee as I had to see the surgeon for a check and an xray. He's quite pleased with the way it's healing and he was good enough to show me the before and after xrays. Then he let Regan take a photo of them.....Got quite a sick feeling when I saw the one with the smashed bone, What a mess  In the after xray you can clearly see the metal rod all the way down through the bone from the top of the leg to the knee, and the metal plate and screws holding it all together. Not a pretty sight at all. No wonder I was in so much pain, be warned people stay away from ice, be careful where you walk, wear ice grips on your boots in the winter, OR, this could be your leg.

Yes slipping is all too easy and the consequences can be awful.

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Raven, it's painful just to look at it never mind experience it.  It's a slow old job recovering from such a nasty injury, but by the better weather hopefully you will be out and about again. You'd be better off inside today if our weather is anything to go by, horrible misty rain and cold.

I assume you already had a knee joint replacement prior to your accident, did you?

Yes, both of my knees have had replacements done. 2007 and 2010.

Not quite as severe as it was, I'm on my own most of the time now and just getting on with things, I see Regan twice a week now and David pops in to walk Dageus for me. Will be glad when I can drive again and then I can go to the park with them, one with lots of seats if I need to sit a while.

Glad you're on the mend Raven, it'll be just in time for Spring  :upvote:

Thankyou yes, I am itching to get back into my normal life. I am having withdrawal symptoms, no swimming, no ocean, no horses, no farm, no driving, no walks where I love to walk.

Aye, we are that. I was young when my knee first went, I was only 42 at the time. I was made to wait years for an operation much to my disgust, and the other knee went because of that long wait, I was putting far to much strain on it tying to walk.

Only 42?  Oh, now that really is bad luck.  I'm sorry to hear that.

Yep, 42 and not a care in the world, it was the middle of July, a roasting hot evening and I had taken my 2 Old English Sheepies for a hike up river. I was joined by one of my sisters and her dog, Sal (dog) had been in the river for a swim and came running up the boats slipway straight at me, started to shake the water out of her long coat, I whipped around to get out of it and ripped my cartilage.. At the time I thought it was a pulled muscle, but time and pain told a different story. A few months later I was sent for an Xray and 2 days after that I was in PRI for keyhole surgery to get the bits of cartilage out. I was told I would need a full replacement in the future but I would have to be 60 first. Ended up having them in my 50s.
