Quote from: Scrumpy on January 04, 2025, 12:37:12 PMHave you noticed that one sees very few men hovering near the magazines.. !!
Everything is available online.. Many adults are as bad as youngsters when it comes to mobile phones..
I may have already said this, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself.
Recently when I was driving, I stopped at a zebra crossing to let a woman and her 2 children cross.  One was in the pushchair, and the other, probably about 3-ish,  was running along side of the mother.
There the mother was,  yakking away on her phone while crossing the road with 2 youngsters.  She could only hold the pushchair with one hand,  and the toddler was not being held onto at all while it ran across the road.   I was flabbergasted at the stupidity of this woman.

Another thing that annoys me, and I think is very bad manners too,  is these people who go through supermarket checkouts,  packing their bags slowly with only one hand,  while they are yakking with their phones in the other.

I annoyed another shopper in Tesco several months ago, she clucked her tongue at me and said why would a woman of your age be glued to her phone like a teenager. I was none too chuffed but calmly turned the phone screen so she could see it and said...."because I have my shopping list on it, that's why" Then turned away and got on with my messages. I've seen her in Tesco a couple of time since and she always looks away pretending she's not seen me.

Quite right Raven.  On the other hand, you could have unpeeled the post-it note with your shopping list on....🤭😉😬

Raven

I used to write out a list as I needed it Dex and was excellent at walking out the door without it. :busted:
It was Regan "daughter" who showed me the App she has on her phone for shopping lists. I started to use that instead of writing it out, I wrote it on the phone. Now I don't forget.

I was just kidding Rox.  I use a shopping list app at times.  So easy!

Raven

AH HAAA, so your an App man too.

dextrous63

Oh yes!

I tried to get my wife and daughter to use it so that we can share and update lists when we're out and about.

I might as well have peed the list into snow🙄🤣🤣

Raven

Well you tried.

Marge and I each have a smartphone and, at the ages of 63 and 72 respectively I feel that we are capable of using them sensibly and constructively.  I certainly wouldn't want to burn ours.
And I'm afraid that we shall not be giving you any little bits of Lithium within them, on the grounds that they might not work without them.
😉

For communication I have a 'Dumb-phone' just like I used too before Steve Jobs blessed the world with his Apple iphones, does eveything I need for $2 a month, it cost about £16 in the UK.

I'm not against mobile phones, only the Smartphones for what they've done to the world.
