Lacking confidence...

Scrumpy

It was mentioned by Sheila on another thread how, since covid, she is lacking confidence in what she does and where she goes..
I too am not as confident as I once was.. I now find that I think hard before going anywhere..My friends are the same.. we often speak of it..
I am off to Lincoln at the end of the month and Devon a little later.. This is something I would be doing without a second thought.. But not so now..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

The problem is you have no idea what the effect may be should you catch it and there is still plenty about. My son just phoned he tested positive today. He is a bit sniffly with a tickly throat. I was out all day fishing with him yesterday in his cramped boat including 30 miles each way in a car. I've just tested negative but may test positive in a day or so.

So should I have been reluctant to go out? No. If you lock yourself away and do nothing you may as well be in your box anyway imo. I've had my 3 jabs and already caught it once. If I get it again I'm expecting mild symptoms. If it should be bad will I regret not locking myself away from the world? 100% no.

I do agree with you.. I really do.. I think we must get on with things now..
It's not covid I fear .. I don't think of it when I go out ... It's the rut that I have got into.. It's almost as if I can't be bothered and am 'comfortable' in my space..
It seems to be a common feeling amongst my friends..
I am sure there are others on here who feel the same.

I am pleased that you tested negative..

Last time I didn't test positive til several days after meeting with the person who called me to say they had tested positive. I think it was maybe the day after a cough started. My son says he has a "tickly throat". At the moment it's just inconvenient as I won't go to the shops until I'm sure I don't have it.

Exactly the same Scrumpy.  I couldn't stay home for five minutes I was always out, but not been on a bus since Covid began, don't go out half as much now and tend to wear and wash the same few clothes.    But I have done something brave today, booked a hotel for the night before my sister in laws wedding, I haven't seem her for so long.

Much the same with me - avoiding going places where there are people, haven't set foot in a pub nor café since all this began.

I've been going to the leisure centre several times a week, and helping in the charity shop for a while now. Ate out on Saturday  and I'm away at the moment at a lovely spa for a couple of days.

Life's too short not too (for me anyway) especially at the moment.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I am going away to Lincoln at the end of the month.. I went to Devon last year and will do the same again this year..
What I am saying is.. I have lost something.. My 'excited'.. 'looking forward to ' feeling seems to have gone..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I am off to Lincoln at the end of the month.

Oh no! Not to 'smelly Skelly' I hope.

Seven of us who all used to work together used to meet up for lunch every few weeks and have been good friends for many years.  We met up last year at an open air cafe but have got out of the habit of meeting.

I took the bull by the horns and 'whatsapped' them asking if anyone would like to join me for lunch at the local pub.  Four of us are free tomorrow and are meeting up so I am really looking forward to it.  It's a start and hopefully we can find a date when all seven can meet up.

Thank you Scrumpy.  We used to visit Lincoln a couple of times a year as Paul has family there but haven't been since this bloody virus started.

Life for me has changed a lot, I used to go out a lot more places before Covid and apart from going to my home in Perth I hardly meet up with anyone for any reason. The only normal thing is the pool and then I stay on my own as much as possible. I don't get involved in chatting groups at the end of the pool, I stay as far away as I can and keep swimming, also I won't go into the jacuzzi if anyone else is in it. We used to have friends over at least every 2 weeks on a Sunday Afternoon during the summer, we had lunch outside and a good old gossip. Dunc was saying the other day that we must try to get things back to the way they used to be. I also used to drive down to Inverness at least once a month for a mooch around the town and a pub lunch. It's been 2 years since that happened.

No... We are going to Woodhall Spar.

That's a nice area.

When I used to go to Boston I'd sometimes go via Woodhall Spa.
