Earthquake last night in Birmingham..Scary stuff..
My Granddaughter lives in Lincolnshire and a few years back they had an earth tremor.. She said it was the strangest feeling ..
Has anyone experienced this.. ?
Doncaster had one several years ago, but i was in Goa at the time. it was in the middle of the night and everyone got out of bed in fear, so it must have been a quite severe tremor...
The earth moved for us coincidentally at a very appropriate time maybe 20 years ago - almost certainly this one https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2002/sep/24/davidward No damage but all the doors shook.
I haven't experienced that kind of earth moving
I come over all dizzy if I get up too quick.. Does that count..!!
Here is that West Brum quake recorded on my seismometers.
Top trace is vertical movement and bottom is horizontal east/west.
Magnitude was 2.8. That's quite large for a UK quake.

I reckon my first wife could register more than that stamping her foot!

Not a lot going on round Brum. Or anywhere here now that I know of. Cuadrilla were told to shut down and seal all their sites (I think Putin promised Boris some gas cheap or something).
it would be silly doing it in the Bromich area
but it wouldnt cause much harm in....say Perth... [2010]

20 odd years ago when we lived in Devon, was trying to go to sleep about 1 am I felt a rumbling went on for quite a while and was quite a scarey feeling. Next day we learned that there had been an earthquake out to sea, only 1. something, a big one must be terrifying.
