I've been round the block a few times.. and way back could hold my own with the best of 'em..
I remember sliding off the bar stool .. eyes focused on the Ladies.. concentrating hard to look dignified as I walked across the bar floor.. looking left nor right.. just straight ahead..
Then someone calls out 'Hi Irene'.. The Ladies sign is lost forever..
Today I can drink probably one wine.. not a full glass.. What happened..!!
Not an age problem Irene
Possibly you only thought you could hold your liquour and time has been a censor of when you didn't.
When I read that Raven.. Alex and GrannyMac are meeting up with friends and having a drink I am well envious..
We just meet up for coffee.. !!
Scumpy I don't drink alcohol these days. I like it but it doesn't like me, makes me really sick and I often get a migraine. I drink a varity of soft drinks and I'm also the driver.
.. do they tip you Raven.. !!
Naw lol. It's usually only Dunc in the car with me. The rest live in the village not far to walk. We have a couple of miles to our road end, then a good bit up it. Quite a hoof and really not safe on foot, narrow road with no space for walkers.
Like you Scrumpy I've been round the block a few times  Now I look back, I don't know how I drank so much and stayed on my feet. I lived abroad for ten years and the "culture" was either Brits drinking in each others homes, or just drinking in the house, which I never did in UK.
That lifestyle stuck with me when I came home I'm afraid.
Nowadays I have booze in the house still, but I rarely drink, maybe a pink gin occasionally . Meeting the girls is always lunch times in a pub where they all knock 'em back and I stick to Coke -
What is a pink gin.. what do you mix with it..?
I don't mind a Vodka and Coke.. or a Gin and Tonic.. a red wine.. or even a Bacardi and Coke.. I like Ginger wine...
I've got to stop now.. I feel wobbly.. !!
I mix a shot of Greysons pink gin with tonic Scrumps, the gin is from Aldi, it's a similar price to Gordons, but I prefer the Aldi one.  My Mum used to drink gin and I hated the smell of it, it was like chemicals to me, this pink stuff smells better !
Hey Alex..!! Do you remember the days when the drink went down our throats so bloody quickly we didn't have time to smell it.. !!!!
In those days I drank anything - apart from gin. Do you remember Cherry B over Cider ?
Yes.. I liked cider.. Still prefer it to coke when I am really thirsty..
Cherry B.. !! I was sick on that once ... thought I had haemorrhaged ... ( that spelling doesn't look right)..!!
That's a blast from the past. I used to enjoy Cherry B but would not thank you for one now. Babycham was another favourite.
ooh yes or Brandy and Babycham, now that was s t r o n g

  Oh dear.. 'Not sure why we demonize alcohol, it doesn't do anything at all..
I was NEVER that bad
I believe that they now sell tickets to Saturday nights in Newcastle city centre.. ..

Maybe it's just that you can't remember being that bad
I'm pretty sure I was...
The only time I fell over was inside a club, right in front of the group [1160] and I slipped on a puddle of beer.
Both my mate and me went down on a ice patch when we came out of a pub.. Didn't feel a thing.. We were tough back then..
I have pulled my knickers down to have a wee but not far enough..!! :embarrassed:
Now that I tend to eat at lunchtime - pre-lunch Martini or sherry, half a bottle of wine with the food. Very occasionally a Scotch as a nightcap - last one was November sometime
Mike
As I have said.. I rarely drink..
However I have been known to take a swig out of a Jack Daniels bottle whilst doing the hoovering.. because I can and no-one was looking.. I don't even like the stuff.. Made me shake all over..
