Why on earth do MPs carry on addressing other MPs as 'honourable' and 'the right honourable' ? Seems to me there isn't much honour among any of them.

My guess is they take classes in how to suppress chuckles and disguise the chill of irony in their voices.. Must take ages..
I've always assumed that the term was used because lying to the House is seen as the ultimate sin (stop laughing at the back there) as statements in the house are not actionable for slander

Bercow did away with the gown and wig for the speaker, so I'm surprised nobody has suggested a modernisation of the language too. :rolleyes:
