So, when is an apology not an apology?

When Diane Abbott makes one.

Luckily it's everyone else who is at fault, and not her, ever!!

I don't particularly like or admire her, but I did think that what she said regarding the differing 'racism' experiences of Jews travellers and black people was entirely reasonable.

To be honest, I don't think most people take any notice of her.  She's just a figure of fun, especially when she has her shoes on the wrong feet.

There may well be some mileage in that argument, but IIRC that's not what she said at the time.  In any case, she apologised solely to be returned the whip and thus allowed to stand as a Labour candidate.  Now she has retracted the apology, she can't really complain that she's been suspended, not only for her views on racism, but because she lied through her back teeth with a disingenuous lie.
