Title: save money when eating?
Post by: alfred on May 25, 2022, 10:11:12 AM
As we all know that in the not too distant future everything is going up if it hasn't already ,and so as many of us will try to find ways of cutting back on our gas and electric even food in an attempt to cut back where we can ,

so i wonder that the humble micro wave oven, will be used more than ever, especially with convenience foods, and  ten minutes in the micro meals that will reduce the electricity costs rather than the electric, or gas oven, which will cost more to run, as fewer people will be able to afford home entertaining as they did in the past ,as they worry about paying bills in general,

so with the worry of ever more bills on the increase as just about everything else change too, as our shopping for food changes as we try to find cheaper ways to cut down and save if possible ? particularly with  these enormous bills lurking on the horizon,.

Q; so what are your views on the way our lives could change, should the government do a lot more rather than talk about party gate, and drinking, hanging onto their jobs,   instead of getting on with the job they are being paid to do ,.

I suspect a lot of money could be saved by cutting down on MaccyD's via Deliveroo in favour of eggs on toast and other cheap options.

We don't waste much, rarely have takeaways, although we did have fish and chips on Friday.  Lots of salads in the summer, no cooking needed!

I think an air fryer certainly saves money, I rarely put the ' big oven ' on these days. :upvote:

I use the slow cooker and make enough for 4 to 6 servings. Freeze them and defrost what we're having through the day. I spend a couple of days doing different meals and fill up the freezer. In the summer it's mostly cold meals and salads.

I use a slow cooker too Raven, for stews mainly to freeze.  Nothing better when you can't be bothered to cook remembering you've got stew or chilli in the freezer    I just find with the air fryer you can cook anything you'd normally do in the big oven, only in half the time and with same results.
