General Discussion / Re: Another Tony Martin?

Quote from: Diasi on Yesterday at 06:07:54 PMOnce again, thanks Cassandra for such a well-informed expansion of my post.

I love your graphic description of the assault & repercussions thereof in the underpass.

It almost sounds as though you were taking the piss out of the prosecution team.

Lol

Actually Phil a colleague from my chambers took the brief as Prosecutor, knowing he had a zero chance before the ribbons were off the briefs. The twenty something oikh from Starmer's lot (DPP) had no idea at all about the law and had an 'ord' in bee-keeping I think! We all dined out on it for years as a 'post prandial' recollection.

The 'accused' weighed in at just under 19 stone of solid muscle standing barefoot at 6'5". I once saw an opponent hook him full on the left jaw and he just ignored it and kept coming. My mother was very fond of him and the Jury loved this big gentle man from the go! We of course looked quite comical together, little & large. He kept referring to me as 'my mate over there' to the great amusement of his 12 fans on the benches of decision. Very 'Arthur Mullard', a genial giant and a fine pugilist and staunch West Ham follower. His list of character witnesses ranged amongst the famous from the world of sport and journalism. In fact my pal, his prosecutor accused me of "winning six times over, just to rub it in". Lovely tiny wife, they worshipped each other. He retired the ring to general gardening maintenance, living in a beautiful self restored railway carriage in East Sussex, where they kept goats. Someone I was very fond of, a good friend at my side in bad times, many years after his moment of infamy.

The only possibility of not getting a Labour government is if they somehow end up with Corbyn back as leader. Other than that it's a done deal. My fervent hope is that it isn't just a thrashing but complete annihilation. The One Nation faction are already suggesting any shift to the right will lead to an electoral wipeout and urging more net zero, open borders, etc. etc. that is the chief cause of them being where they are now.  Only from a complete razing to the grass roots is there any chance of what comes from the ashes is even remotely Conservative.

I wonder how many actual Greens voted for him. I suspect it was mostly browns.

Quote from: Alex on Today at 02:34:19 PMI was thinking this morning how annoying these corner pull up thinggies are !  I can never get a grip and end up just taking a sharp knife to the pack
Some do work. Many won't peel at all others you just get a strip off the top. Poor quality control on the part of the supermarkets. If the packaging fails to work they should send the stuff back rather than annoy all their customers. Mind you most are used to this anyway and don't expect any better.

Quote from: Alex on March 10, 2024, 10:19:49 AMCould this save the Tories ?  It's being talked about, but they need to find him a seat first.
I know the Tories are desperate but he WAS the PM we voted for and he should have stayed PM until the people removed him.
Apart from Tommy Robinson being arrested again on 'unknown charges' it's very quiet today

Boris a two faced lying cheat and Lib Dem double agent. Married to a Green slimester.

I'd find him a seat, or rather a chair - an Electric one. Could anyone ever trust this double breasted Con-man again. I think a lot of ex Tories hate him with a vengeance!

Here's the 'Greens' joining in local matters such as bin collections etc. Its been alleged that the local mullah provided lots of grotes to the cabbage suckers to let 'Mothin Ali' and his gang stand as neighbourhood 'Greens'.

Mothin has only been in England three years as well - is he mentally stable - of course he is - you know it makes sense.

Isn't modern Democracy wonderful close up ...

Mothin Ali latest 'Green' recruit
