I think many of us like to get into a freshly made bed that has had clean sheets and pillow cases , and the luxury of sleeping in a fresh bed tends to make us  sleep well  which for many of us as we  get a sound nights sleep as a result,

Q; do you find you sleep better when youve made a bed with freshly washed sheets and pillow cases, and does it make you sleep sounder as a result

Alex

I don't sleep well Alfred, no matter which sheets I'm between

just a clean pillow-slip works for me...

I love clean bedding, but I have a heavy mattress which need some lifting to get the fitted sheet on, and I get in a right old state putting the duvet cover on so I don't do it as often as I should, but do change the pillow slips more often.  Then there is the washing and getting it all dry in the winter

roll the duvet up like a carpet, slide it into the cover, take hold of the loose end of the 'carpet' thru the edge of the cover and hold it up as high as you can....its easier with two...

I use a top sheet so only have to change two sheets, the duvet cover not so often......WELL THERE'S ONLY ME !

Regarding changing duvets covers, , when we change ours my wife read of another person who used clothes pegs to hold the top corners  of the duvet in place,

as she fed the remaining  bottom half of the duvet in to place then pegged all four corners of the duvet,

before giving the duvet a vigorous shake before placing it on the bed , this is for a one person doing this on their own but if there are two of you then so much the better,

I love freshly washed bedding, I iron the pillow slips but not the sheet or duvet covers.  They are line dried in summer, folded over a radiator at this time of year.  Flannelette bedding atm, lovely and cosy.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Another way is to turn the duvet cover inside out, push your hands into the two far corners, then grip the duvet with your fingers and shake the cover down over the duvet.  /geez that was hard to explain, it works for me at least

That's brilliant Alex.. I do the same.

I saw an idea on TV a while back that never took off - both a side and  bottom with fastenings.

Does anybody NOT use duvets any more?
