To be fair, I believe, but cannot understand, that there are those who don't like first class cricket, opposed to the childish pyjama version. I weep for them

In my opinion there's room for both forms and we need both for the game to survive and grow. What we must also accept is that England no longer has a divine right to be the, or even one of the best in the world. .

We are both a like in many ways Mike, you enjoy watching cricket and me golf, in both cases bore the pants off many on the forum. In fact many on here enjoy a certain sport with the ladies quite often tennis. With men, pay a fortune to watch football which is quite often a crap game.

I watched a morning session of a Test match when the ball was swinging around and we were 32 for 2 at lunch. A fight for survival. I loved every minute , but a guy walking past said this is why cricket is boring...............philistine. :waiting:

If they played 20./20 in my back garden, I would leave the curtains drawn.
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

I am not a cricket fan but I would have thought 20 20 would be great for training purposes, making players trying to get runs from every ball.

actually, the attitude which that festers is deleterious to the first class game and one of the reasons for England's many collapses at Test level

well as is my wont, i dissagree...
20-20 has introduced many to the red ball game, i do agree its like pool and snooker, but in a bygone day it was how billiard players looked at snooker.. when did you last hear of a game of billiards?
if you relied only on first class cricket then by now they might be planting turnips at lords   [1050]

hugh

Correct me if I am wrong but I feel 20 20 far more entertaining to the general public, and I guess more gate money for the sport.

I think that some fans of the red ball game see themselves as a threatened sporting elite that have a God-given right to continue watching their chosen sport exactly the way they always have with little idea about funding the future.

Michael Rolls

You say that as though it is a bad thing. They can always go and play rounders

And the valuable real estate like Lords and the Oval will be sold to developers and become housing estates..

i get the impression that the old school tie is under threat
from those that took off the tie when they left school....
Football is beginning to take off in India, the Captain of the Indian cricket team is one of the owners of the Goa F C team, and i raise my cap to him for seeing beyond the long-leg boundary...
most games are on TV and played in the evenings and are well supported, i have attended several games, but never a cricket match... :duel:
