Title: tooth paste,& bleached teeth.
Post by: alfred on February 14, 2022, 08:33:59 PM
Not that long ago i had to visit the dentist and after a check up and a clean up i am O.K. for the next six months.
the dentist gave me a small tube of tooth paste, and told me this should help brighten up your teeth,

evidently all that  tooth pastes does is to polish, not clean your teeth, as i originally thought , so now when I'm looking at the t.v i see people sporting whiter than white teeth, in other words bleached, to which teeth usually and normally are of an ivory colour. not brilliant white,?

Q; do you think bleached teeth are attractive or is it  done  for cosmetic purposes. will you share your thoughts with us,

It's purely cosmetic. Pretty much a must have for celebs. It can be amusing looking for £10k smiles from supposed down and outs in TV dramas. I have heard the word veneers used with regard to these treatments rather than bleaching which sounds like something gets stuck over the tooth although I haven't looked it up.

I had made up my mind to change dentist before lockdown as my dentist had gone into semi retirement and taken on a new partner who I simply didn't trust - I thought she was into make work. Possibly unjustly. The upshot being I don't currently have a dentist.

Neither do we klondike. OH had spent a lot on a bridge, it failed, paid for a different one.  Then he had a part denture made, he couldn't eat, it affected his speech, then we had lockdown.

A few weeks ago a wisdom tooth started niggling, and a bit broke off, and it started to become painful. I rang the dental hospital, he had an appointment in two days.  They were great, really took care, took out his tooth, painlessly he said, and monitored the bleed before they let him go.   And it was free.  Very impressed.

Its part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust Scrumpy, along with four other hospitals.  Its linked to the University, teaches dental students, hygienists etc.  They treated OH because he was an emergency, but he's looking for a new dentist for general treatment now.

We are very fortunate here with hospitals, crabbyob I'm sure would agree.

i certainly do Granny, Sheffield is well blessed, but Doncaster not so much
in Birmingham most of the Indians i knew in the 60's used the dental hospital [free]
my Dental Hygenist was convincing me not to bother about tooth paste just to have a good tooth brush, but his wife heard him and pounced, crabbyob you WILL use toothpaste, and she is the dentist.
Vineers are shells that are fitted over your own teeth, but they might have to grind your own tooth down to take it....strangely my father had one in the forties, but it wasnt white, it was gold...
