It's well past time this Woke nonsense was dropped. At one time such men were reckoned to be a security risk. Now it seems that they are in charge.
I don't agree with discrimination against these people but surely their sexual preferences shouldn't be broadcast to the world in association with their official positions?

I'd agree with that. The number of soldiers (on both sides ) supposedly gay but still closeted during WWII, had no problem fighting/killing their enemy. Sexuality had nowt to do wi'it.
i doubt i would feel comfortable in a foxhole with a gay person, but on the other hand i suppose i might have other worries...
I have no problems with gays. I just don't see the need for bloating HR staff with extra outreach positions. Why should their "rights" be any different from anybody else's. Equal treatment for all not additional regulation for some.

As an ideal I agree 100% - we're still a long way off non-discrimination though.

I've met quite a lot of gay men in my life crabbyob and not one of 'em ever made a pass at me. They're just not interested in straight men.
It's not so much the gay part of that statement in the opening post, but the fact MI6 began hiring foreigners as part of its "diversity" agenda. How does that work if your Dad was Russian ?
I see no problem with hiring gays either. I do see a problem with the head of MI6 tweeting all that diversity stuff though. Why is it in any way relevant to anything?
Perhaps PR?.. Since the 70's I believe MI5 ran a no-gays operation cos of the obvious drawbacks like blackmail..Now they're short of manpower and all is forgiven..

Highlights my point to some extent. There is no longer any shame in being gay and I doubt much discrimination either. I can't see why PR, positive discrimination, outreach programs, diversity advisers etc. are required any more.
Of course not being black, gay, ginger, Welsh or a muslim I never personally experienced any of the snidyness those categories can attract and thought/hoped it had all mostly gone into the history books but if that isn't so maybe there is some sort of need. At least for less well protected minorities such as Welsh and gingers.
