Title: BT email lockout
Post by: Flying Bomb on April 18, 2022, 02:43:52 AM
I wonder if anyone here has experienced this.....
Yesterday, quite suddenly, I lost my BT email system.
I cannot either send or receive emails.
If I try to sign into BT it states my password is incorrect and
doesn't allow me to change it anymore !

I went through 1/2 hour chatting with two BT staff I found, neither could solve the problem..
They finally gave up and made an appointment for a BT engineer to
come to my house in 2 days, although I told them that my
landline phone and broadband were working perfectly.
I cannot understand why it cannot be fixed at their end.

Does all this ring bells with someone here who had same trouble?

Unless you house the BT data centre I think that call centre bloke is sending folks to the wrong place.

You are right.
This morning I tried on another laptop with same result.
So Phoned BT again, this time on 0800 800 150 and another chap agreed with me
that the trouble was with BT.

After  a few checks he said that my email account had been hacked
at their end... He is resetting my account soon.

It seems incredible to me that the people on the phone have zero knowledge of how stuff works. They follow a script and fall off the edge of the flowchart so send a hardware bloke to your house for what cannot possibly be either a hardware problem or fixable at your house. Useless. Useless. Useless.

I was going to say pay peanuts and you get monkeys but I reckon monkeys might be smarter.

They set me up OK but within a few hours I was
locked out again !
After more trouble with following their instructions I
was set up for 2 stage authentication.
So far so good.
