with energy price rises will the return of candles make an entrance especially for people trying to save money , ................ just a thought,  :yell:

The whole house lit so you can see the entire evening with LCD lights would still probably cost less than one candle. Only lighting rooms in use would cost far less (impossible if there are children in the house of course as they only seem to master turning stuff on with off being a baffling concept)

I bought a battery lamp which I leave on the window sill at the top of the stairs.  So far it's been going for 6 weeks on the same batteries  :upvote: It's handy if I have to get up in the night.

You can also get little plug in LCD lights that cost next to nothing to run if you have a handily placed socket. We used to leave one plugged in when the grandchildren stayed.

Thank you, I posted it twice so the delete is handy !
I don't have any sockets on the stairs, so this is ideal for me.

I have a plug- in light on the landing.. It turns on when dark and off when light..
I have a street lamp that helps light up my house at night..
I still think I need a torch.. I think I will get a red one..

in the cheap shops you can buy solar powered light that can sit on a window sill and come on when it gets dark...

The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off
