Still seems a little odd to see 'KC' rather than 'QC' appended to barristers' names, but it jogged a memory – when Her Majesty succeeded her father – 6th February 1952 – one of the papers had a picture of some Chelsea Pensioners with the caption 'soldiers of the Queen again'. These elderly gentlemen had all been soldiers during the reign of Queen Victoria who died in 1901, so the time gap between Queen Victoria dying and Queen Elizabeth succeeding was less than that between King Charles succeeding his mother and her own accession – 51 years and a little under a month, compared to 70 years and six months or so. I suppose it is just possible that there might be some Chelsea Pensioners who are 'soldiers of the King again'
I still camn't get used to having a king , he's not a patch on his Mum :sad:

thinking about it, a boy soldier who joined in 1951 need 'only' be 97 or so now, so unlikely but not impossible
