I always think the same when I see Hunt.

The last 'smirker' was Blair & just look what a lying useless tosser he turned out to be.

How do these nasty pieces of work get selected as candidates? There is something wrong with the system to allow (i.e. force) it. There must be nicer people in Surrey, and whether they went to Oxford or not shouldn't enter into it.

On the bright side you won't see him for more than a couple of years.

With the EU gravy train stalled at the moment it's all that's available to some of them now.

If anyone can correct me if wrong, I gather that Conservative party candidates are allocated to constituencies by central office and not chosen by local members.

By the time the next election comes round they'll likely only be chosen by their mums and perhaps not even them. The whole bloody lot will be sunk without a trace. At least I hope so - they certainly deserve to be.

Yes I know that feeling 'exactly'. He's a loathsome, hateful and spiteful man. Amazing how the patronising 'Conservative' idiots in Parliament insist on continually pushing his reviled features at the rest of us, who clearly reject him so vehemently! They have to be 'conscientiously' sightless to the pent up tsunami of revenge thats just waiting for the first opportunity to sweep them all away?

His coming austere and ruinous 'mini budget' is due to be tipped out like a bin of foetid garbage this Thursday, November 17th.

Not if their Mum's on a State Pension.

You are wrong, the candidates are chosen by the local Conservative Party Associations.

Yeah. That's part of the "perhaps not" for sure.

Diasi,

I think the local associations choose their preferred candidate from a list given to them from Central Office.

Not quite correct as there is no preferred list but there is a qualifying candidate list, which isn't the same thing as the word preferred smacks of nepotism.

The local associations can forward potential candidates who all have to go through a Central Office vetting process to ensure that every potential candidate is vetted fairly by the same people.

The local associations can also decide to ask Central Office to forward a candidate, & of course, sitting MPs are normally put up for election.

In the case of my local association where I was on the Executive Committee, before I resigned when Sunak was shoehorned in as Leader, our MP has served our constituency for 37 years & unless he retires, he'll be the Tory candidate in 2024 & beyond.
