Well it seems pretty obvious to me that 'Partygate' requires no effort whatsoever by the opposition, whereas coming up with ideas about the dinghy immigrants, the world-wide fuel crisis, the Ukraine etc does.

In a nutshell.  Some very big issues at the moment, all taking a back seat to who drank what, where and with whom.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

and, maddening though this disregard of that to which others have been expected to comply - it is totally insignificant in the context of the overall problems we are facing

Politicians will always have pay rises. Whatever party is in power..
This party business has gone on far too long.. Boris knows he is a prat.. and we all know it too..  BUT.. Parties can leave hangovers and Boris is suffering with the biggest headache ever..  I hope he finds a remedy .. pretty soon..
The person keeping it alive is Dominic Cummings..
He must have spent his time in Downing Street gathering evidence .. watching every move.. lurking and looking.. A sneaky Uriah Heep...
I bloody hate Dominic Cummings..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

not as much as Boris does I'll bet

Any replacement would face the same problems, I wish the press and Labour party would draw a line under this now and let's get on with the important things facing us.

hugh

I agree Alex people are now getting bored with the endless sob stories. Time to move on.

It won't happen though.

You have to realise that a politician's main skill is lying.
So it's a sin to be caught.
That's why "Misleading the House" (i.e. getting caught standing up in the HoC and telling a pack of porkies) has always been a resigning offence.

He argues that he hasn't been proven to be lying. Everybody with a ha'porth of sense would add to that "yet" because the only reason there is no proof at the moment is because it has been held back while the police twiddle their thumbs wondering what to do  investigate the evidence.

Liking Boris, realising that the rest are a bunch of useless gits or any other issue with him going will not stop the remorseless move towards that conclusion which this episode is following.

He'll either resign or the way the polls on public trust and voting intentions look mean the new MPs with paper thin majorities and who have discovered all the wrinkles in screwing the most out of their new positions will not be best pleased if it looks like they may lose them so the knives will be out and Caesar Boris will fall.

Scrumpy

I doubt he will resign.. I also doubt a ' no confidence ' vote...
They should just ride it out and wait for the elections to come up in a couple of years.. It can't be any worse then it is now ... but it can get better..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

they are pedants not politicians, you and i could write out what Starmer and the SNP are going to say, and neither is asking a question that might help their constituents... yes Boris was wrong, and he will be wrong again, but whoever replaces him will be step backwackwards, unlike replacing Starmer whose demice would certainly help his party....
Dont you dare resign Boris...

There are council elections in May which will show which way the wind is blowing. If he makes it to then there is a chance that this will have become chip wrappers.

Names are rolling in now, so I am sorry to say Boris days are very much numbered.

I think that they are making a big mistake

I agree with you Mike, most of them are doing it to save their jobs but it will just make things worse. We could end up rejoining the EU which would take years of messing about at a huge cost.

which is just about the worst possible outcome
