Just when you thought it couldn't get worse. OK I know you didn't think that. At least I hope you didn't.

The British government has reportedly begun "war gaming" scenarios in which energy blackouts could last up to one week in the event of disruptions to the national grid.

Now this could be a sensible plan put in place in case of a huge coronal mass ejection in the coming sunspot maximum period but I don't recall it being done before. This type of danger has been known about for years with the last really big outage in 1989 when the Quebec grid was hit very badly.

I somehow don't think the sun is what has set their buttocks twitching.

No body washing for a week.!!!

Well water has to be pumped. They could arrange for those pumps to be on and other stuff off - water and electric of course.

Scrumpy

Oh dear.. We are all doomed.. :nooo:

Cheer up. It may never happen. Although I do expect there will be shorter ones.

well, it must be getting on for a couple of weeks since the head of the National Grid said that if there are 'very cold' days in January and February, there will be power cuts on those days from 1600 to 1900. He did not define 'very cold'

Well it's bloody cold here this morning and we had a heavy frost, everything is white and I can't be bothered to scrape the car so I can go to the pool. 😢 Will go around midday as it can be pretty quiet then.

Scrumpy

I did put the heating on for an hour this morning..
The sun is out.. so not too bad.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Nice sunny day in North Lincolnshire.

I ran the heating a couple of days ago to make sure it was working & I've left the CH function switched on with the stat turned down so it's not yet being used.

A little ruse I learnt when i was in the Sudan.

The water is warmer in the afternoon so it's more economical to do the washing in the afternoon.

General Kitchener always had his bath in the afternoon.

I do agree that it is wise to run the CH in order to keep check.
I run my dishwasher through every so often.. just to keep the pipes clean..

I've had my heating on for an hour and a half tonight, the little smart screen says £6.26 the only other thing on is the fridge freezer and I used the microwave for 10 minutes.  This is gonna be a 'dear do'   :boo:
