The Triple Lock State Pension Rise

A treasury Minister, Chris Phillips, if I remember correctly, is muttering about reviewing the April 2023 triple lock.

I was under the impression that it had been put in place & had been guaranteed.

I can't see it not being implemented as it'd expect it to wipe out a huge swathe of the Tory Party membership.

I wonder if he's anti-Truss & has said it to rock the boat.

Perhaps the review will conclude that it will be insufficient and increase it?

They are Tories, :waiting: I don't expect them to keep their word about anything. Especially if it means improving the pension.

The only State Pension shit I've suffered was done by the Labour Party in 2010 when they scrapped the £50 pw adult dependent allowance.

This year's triple lock?

The change to boost it but only for younger pensioners? Plus lower qualification too I think.

I'm really angry with myself as I normally read articles very carefully before commenting.

Had I not fallen for the duplicitous false headlines & jumped straight in, I would have realised that the Treasury Minister, Chris Philp, could not possible have answered the question as he wasn't the person who could make such a decision & so, quite rightly, said he couldn't give an answer.

This was then spun by the media, who knew full-well he couldn't answer the question, as him saying the triple lock may be scrapped.

The Chancellor, who's the only person who can make the decision, has now confirmed that the triple lock was never in doubt & will be honoured.

Media reporting at it's dirtiest lowest level.
