The length issue is understandable - need for increased capacity and some stops on the line don't have long enough platforms. The too wide is simply too daft for words. I suspect the only reason we don't get it here is because we are hardly ever replace rolling stock and when we do the contract goes to the cheapest. I am pleased to say that I hope to never take another rail journey.
I travelled to Devon by train a few months back.. Excellent .. only one change at Reading.. Help is there if you need it..
I prefer train travel to road.. when doing long distance..
