There is a call to charge people £10 if they miss NHS appointments .

Who are these people ?

I don't know anyone who deliberately misses an appointment .

The problem seem to be GETTING aan appointment .

I missed one last month. The letter telling me I had an appointment arrived the day after the appointment.
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

Our mail service is now so bad you would think they would send an email .
They want us to do everything else online .

I missed an appointment sometime last year. Had a stinking cold and stupidly didn't check my diary for several days
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

Can I claim for cancellations?
How about very long waits both for appointments and when you get there?
I caught some grotty lurgy after a  three hour wait for some results. a week or so after an MRI. Considering it was a potential cancer that wasn't a pleasant wait either. Then they greased up and rammed a finger where the sun don't shine even though the MRI showed it wasn't. Didn't believe the MRI? Practice? Didn't like my face? Loved their job?

They need to stop blaming patients for their problems and take a look at themselves. IMO the NHS like most other government funded bodies is no longer fit for purpose.

Oh and I've never missed or been late for an appointment

Our GP publishes missed appointments for all their services, Physio, nurse and doctors. I wish I'd photographed the last list.  There were a lot.  There are often genuine reasons for missing one, but given that nearly everyone has a phone nowadays, I think if you miss more than a couple, you should be charged.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

My GP sends  a text reminder of any appointments..
People who, for no good reason , miss appointments should be fined..
Patients moan enough about not getting an appointment..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I'm proud to day that I have never missed an NHS appointment.
On the other hand, getting one is the devil of a job.
