Scrumpy

I often see the advert that shows boiling /ice/fizzy water on tap..
Sometimes I think it would be great to have that at hand..
I wonder what the pitfalls are.!!
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

It looks dangerous to me!  Surely you couldn't use one if you had children in the house?

Scrumpy

A young child would have to climb up to the sink then set it to boiling which could be difficult..I am sure safety factors are covered..
Having said that.. Some children are smart.. and some firms are lacking in safety..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

As it's instant heating there would have to be a power supply near to the sink.

I don't have a tap that offers the option but I do have an instant water boiler rather than a kettle. If I want a cup of tea all that gets boiled is the cupful of water.

I took one over with the house here, a 'Quooker', they've been around over fifty years I think? Super gadget when your alone, or a friend drops in and you want just a little boiling water for a coffee etc. or to wash something in the sink, or your hands. Very safe to use, just like a hot tap, you turn the nozzle left for hot and right for cold. Retains water in a small tank under the sink cupboard at 110c with only 10watts output.

It has lights to show you how hot its getting too. Comes with a handy extension pull out lead and my version (cube) also gives chilled and filtered water too. Also saves tripping the combi boiler for small amounts of hot water (saves water too, when waiting for cold water to run through until it gets hot) and I would reckon is a real money saver for this benefit alone and I never use a Kettle, or water filter jugs like I had in the UK now. I wouldn't be without it. I gave one as a present to my housekeeper Tillie for Xmas. All her friends are envious she tells me!

Sounds like something worth investing in Cass.  :check:

I looked at the Cube version a while ago the & the current price is £2,790, not sure if the installation is included.

The basic hot water tap comes in at £1,840.

At the moment I just put enough water in the kettle for one cup of coffee / tea & the kitchen sink tap seems to get hot water from the combi boiler in a few seconds.

That's what we do as well. We had a combi boiler put in a couple of years back.

I am not quite sure how the Quoker works, but with one handle I don't think I would trust myself not to be absent minded and  turn  it the wrong way and get scalded by the hot water, that's the daft sort of thing I would do.

Far too expensive for me..

I imagine there would have to be safeguards. You can scald your hands from a mixer tap if the boiler is set to deliver very hot water.

I expect to pay for convenience but at £2k a pop I'd expect waitress service. My instant water boiler came from Aldi and cost less than £30 iirc.

It looks just like this one but was cheaper.

y wife loves her Quooker, I think it is a bloody expensive kettle and when it spits, I think it is dangerous...........but who cares what I think.
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

I'll stick with my kettle, it's got a switch to boil water or to 90º 80º or 70º also one to keep water warm but I've never used that one.

Its not possible Jaqueline there's a knob to be turned as well.

Somehow and unsurprisingly there a lot cheaper here. I paid under a thousand dollars fitted for the top of the range one I gave as a present. My recent new Apple Mac was also a lot less than half the UK charge. I'd still always have the Quooker because at my age the utility gives me the ease of operation the moneytary alternative can't. A kettle, with just one arm and that now arthritically diminished, to hold it with, is negated as both a weighty physical discomfort accompanying the risk of spilling and scalding, to me and the little dogs beneath me!
