As we all know what with  thousands of people coming to the U.K either legally or other wise do these people pay into the national health or do they get free bees  and get treatment without paying for it,

as it is the national health service is in dire straits and sadly i could see a time where we all have to pay for private health service as the original system  will have been well and truly been abused and neglected by thoughtless politicians  who cant be bothered with really getting to grips with real problems rather than did Boris break his own rules etc and the ongoing saga which seems to be more important ,to them,

and now who wants his job ,as MPs fight for it ,

Q; can you see the N,H,S lasting as more people coming into this country it seems are applying for the free bees that we, and our parents have paid for , and now  we are being ignored or neglected as a result of a shortage of money and medical people  that is
shortages  of nurses and more importantly  doctors, who are leaving the system in droves  so something must be very wrong as our politicians blaa and bleep in parliament about who said what to whom,

what are your thoughts and will you share them with us,

Michael Rolls

The NHS is virtually broken - all the relevant targets - things like time taken for cancer referrals, waits in A&E, time taken for ambulances to arrive, are being missed, and mostly missed heavily. The nurse shortage is dire - Glasgow's biggest hospital reported that five of its wards had only one nurse each overnight (the waffle was, of course that they were 'supported' by other staff). In my day (I retired in 1994) a minimum of two nurses overnight on acute wards was seen as the norm - although even then it was sometimes missed dur to illness and the like.
As for the GP service -what bloody service?
If you look at staffing levels per head of population we are well short of what comparable nations achieve. Similarly, we languish in simple bed provision. Without staff and beds - well, what does one expect?

Our paid politicians have let us down badly. The NHS gets more money than it knows what to do with, they have to spend it in the year it is allocated, so some gets wasted, some gets spent unwisely, and some even goes into medical care. At least that's what we are supposed to think.

I was transferred from local government to the NHS in 1984 when what had been LG services were moved over - I was appalled at the profligacy in the early years after the change, although, to be fair, things did improve for some years thereafter. The scramble to spend money at the end of the financial year was ridiculous - but understandable at local level - fail to spend all your budget and the next year it would be reduced. The system actually penalised sensible money management

You must have seen the same thing in local government. We never end March in Credit. There is no incentive to spend wisely or save money, quite the opposite. My last gov'nor, God bless him, filled a container with £750,000 worth of brand new useless junk that we never had any use for, in order to spend it.

I know that some councils were extremely profligate. Surrey County Council wasn't one of them. Certainly there never a feeding frenzy end of March.

The NHS is in a bad way.. I have experienced this first hand over the last 12 months..
Many nurses don't seem to have time .. and this reflects heavily on the care given both to patients and family/visitors..
Phones go unanswered.. meals go uneaten and SOME patients ignored ..
Please don't tell me how wonderful it all is because I won't believe it..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Nothing new I'm afraid. I was disgusted with my mother's treatment prior to her death. I wrote a detailed complaint which resulted in a very late brush off.

My son-in-law was in hospital with a terminal illness..
While he was there he developed a dental problem.. He and his family were assured that it would be dealt with..
He suffered constant tooth pain that went untreated..
After many days they sent him home...
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

It's probably easier to spot if you use the WYSIWYG editor (default on PF) which works correctly and is bug free now on the updated forum software
